Minimum
Billing
There is a 2-day minimum billing for any check-in, unless
boarding for consecutive days (i.e. daily day care). An overnight stay will
be billed as 2 days.
During our prime summer season there is a 4-day minimum billing for any
check-in that extends "over a Saturday evening". A 2-day minimum billing
applies if overnight stay does not extend over a Saturday evening
(holiday exceptions apply).
Major holidays also require a minimum billing
(see holiday hours & prime time policies page)
Prime Time
Reservation Changes or cancellations
If making a change or canceling a reservation during our Prime Times
(noted below), please be sure to call the office during business hours
and speak to one of our office staff as we do issue a cancellation
confirmation number during prime times. Please do not leave messages on
the answering machine or via e-mail to cancel a "Prime Time" reservation.
In order to avoid a cancellation charge, you must call and cancel
or make "any" changes to your reservation as follows:
-
During prime "Spring Break" and "Summer Season", we require
"5" full days notice of any change or cancellation before your scheduled check in date.
For Thanksgiving, Christmas, & New Year Holidays we require "14" full days
notice of any change or cancellation before your scheduled check in date.
A "late cancel" or "no show" charge of "3 days" times the rate in effect at the time
of the reservation for the dog run or cat condo will apply for any reservation booked during
prime times.
During "Prime Times" noted above, should you pick up earlier than your scheduled check out
date, you will be charged for the days actually booked.
For reservations during "Off Season" (non prime times), we do not require a Visa or Master
Card to hold the reservation, nor do we have cancellation or no show charges. We simply ask
that you call us if you need to cancel or make any changes to your reservation.
Bill
Calculation
The check-in day is a billable day no matter what
time of the day you check-in. When picking up your pet, if you do so
before 12 noon you will "not" be charged for that day. If you
pick up in the afternoon, you will be charged for that day (subject to Minimum
Billing and Holiday Policies). Sunday is always a billable day, as you
can not check-out before noon on Sundays. I.E. If checking in on Friday and picking
up on Sunday during our off season, you would be charged for 3 billable days.
Method
of Payment
We gladly accept cash, personal checks and VISA
or MasterCard only.

Pet
Taxi
We
offer a pet taxi pick-up and delivery service. Call for details and
for making a reservation.
Exercise
& Daily Attention
All
of our guests will receive daily attention and generous amounts of tender
loving care. Our canine accommodations are large indoor/outdoor style
suites where your dog will have his own covered outdoor enclosure with
plenty of room to run and play. Our Feline accommodations have
3 levels and are also very roomy. For a nominal fee we do offer additional
activities:
- Dedicated Play Times
- Brushing Sessions
- 30 Minute Nature
Walks
- 15 Minute Walks
* Cats enjoy the
Play Times & Brushing Sessions, but we do not walk cats.
Vaccinations
All
pets boarded at Winding Creek Kennels must be free
of any contagious ailments. For the protection of all our guests we
require proof of current vaccinations by a licensed veterinarian.
- For dogs
:
- Rabies - 1 or 3 year (Per your Veterinarian)
- DHLPP ( Distemper/Parvo combination booster) - 1 or 3 year (Per your Veterinarian)
- (we also accept and encourage Titers blood test reports for DHLPP)
- Bordetella (Canine cough or Kennel cough) - required annually (Per your Veterinarian)
- For cats
:
- Rabies & FVRCP (Feline Distemper) 1 or 3 year (Per your Veterinarian)
Note regarding vaccinations...
If we can not confirm vaccinations by a licensed veterinarian,
we will not be able to board your pet. We do not accept vaccinations
done by breeders or pet owners(even if the owner is a nurse or medical physician).
Vaccinations must be done by a licensed veterinarian. We strongly
encourage you ( or have your Veterinarian) fax us your pets vaccination
records well before boarding. This allows us to enter the vaccination
data into our system and gives us time to call either you or your
veterinarian if we find something missing. It is always the pet owners
responsibility to ensure the pet's vaccinations are current. Even after
faxing (or asking the veterinarian to fax) over records, it is a good
idea to call us and confirm that your pets vaccinations are up to date.
This is especially important when checking in on a Sunday or around a
holiday when your Veterinarians office may not be open. If something is
missing, we are not able to call your veterinarian for clarification as
they are closed. Our dedicated fax number is 770-725-2829.
Pre-Entry
Check
All pets will be given a brief pre-entry check on
arrival. Anything unusual should be brought to our attention.(i.e.
bumps & lumps, open sores, stitches, limping, ear issues, eye issues,
allergies, etc.) If fleas or ticks are found, we will need to
treat your pet prior to entering the kennel or cattery. The pre-entry check performed by
kennel personnel is superficial only and not intended to replace a physical
exam performed by your veterinarian or imply medical judgments.
Bedding
Bedding is provided for all our canine and feline
guests. For sanitary purposes we ask that you do not bring your pet's
own bedding or pillows. However, for dogs, we do put down a raised platform
called kennel decking, designed to keep the dogs up off the concrete. On top
of the kennel decking, our own very comfortable machine washable lambs wool
type bedding is provided for all pets. For cats we also use the washable lambs
wool type bedding.
Toys & Treats
Toys are always welcome. We encourage
you to bring a few items from home to help make your pet feel more
comfortable while boarding. Please try to select toys that you think your pet
will not shred or destroy. Please do not bring "butcher type" hard bones that
are greasy and still contain some food particles.
Treats are also welcome. When bringing treats for dogs, we ask that you bring
treats in a see through zip lock sealable bag. Simply count out how many treats
you want your pet to have, and we will give them to your pet per your instructions.
Please do not bring treats in an open air box that can not be sealed or in a hard
container that may not fit in your pets basket. For cats, you may bring treats in
its original container/box.
Leash / Pet Carrier
For your pet's safety we ask that you have your
pet on a leash or otherwise under your control. Dogs must be leashed, carried, or in a
pet carrier. Please do not let your dog run loose once on our property. For cats, we strongly
recommend that you bring your cat in a pet carrier.
Medications
Most medications(including injections) that your pet requires can be
continued during his or her stay with us. Be sure to bring the original prescription containers,
and enough medications to cover additional days past your scheduled pick up date. Please do not
bring medications in a plastic bag, envelope, or unmarked container. We need to know
exactly what
we are giving your pet. There is a nominal charge for the administration of medications and or injections.
Food
and Special Diets
We provide high quality dry and semi-moist foods.
If your pet is on a "special or prescribed diet", please bring an ample supply
of the required food in an air tight hard container and we will feed accordingly
(for dogs there is a nominal fee charged for owner provided food, unless each meal is in
individually pre-measured baggies). Most of our guests(95% or more)prefer to use our food.
We provide the food(both dry & semi-moist) and the bowls. If your pet is on a
prescription
diet, has allergies, or has a very sensitive stomach, then you should consider bringing your
pet's own food in individually pre-measured baggies as follows:
- bring extra food baggies on the chance that you can not pick up when you
planned.
- if feeding 2 x day, bring 2 baggies per day(not 1 large bag that needs to be divided)
- Each meal should be identical - the am quantity should be the same as the pm quantity.
- if your pet requires medications, "do not" put pills in the food baggie. We give medication
separately.
Regarding feeding frequency, we will feed your pet according to your instructions
(up to 3 times daily). For cats, you can choose to go with our food, or you can
bring your own food. There is no charge for owner provided cat food in a container.
No need to pre-bag cat food.
Health
Care
We have veterinarians on call 24 hours a day to
respond to the emergency health needs of our guests. To further ensure the
safety and welfare of your pet, Winding Creek Kennel
owners live on the premises. We treat all of our canine and feline
guests as if they were our own children.
